MATCH ANALYSIS & FITNESS

Match Analysis is a stimulating and critical part of the process of player development.

Competitive matches are a real test of a player’s capabilities in the tactical, technical, mental and physical aspects of the game.  When you add an analysis of the data of matches, error rates, serve stats, return placements and a momentum chart, you provide a player and their coach with deep level information to use to dramatically improve the effectiveness of their work together.

Tennis places enormous physical, mental and emotional pressure on players and each individual develops a set of unique responses to meet these demands.

The required athleticism, including running, jumping, sliding, turning, twisting, accelerated starting, sudden stopping and then hitting the ball in a complex variety of directions and ways, is incredibly demanding physically. Any lack in strength, flexibility, agility or fitness will have an exponential impact on a players physical capabilities, but it will also spread across the other player competencies in the mental, technical, tactical and emotional proficiencies.

Player fitness and skill is measured by:

  • Muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition, aerobic and anaerobic fitness and cardiorespiratory endurance.
  • Co-ordination, balance, agility, power, speed, reaction time and emotional consistency under pressure

It has been said that tennis is a sport where players must ‘respond to a continuous series of emergencies’ and that the many and various ways they must move, stop and restart to play a match, as well as maintain their balance, focus on their strategy and make decisions about techniques and approaches, makes the game of tennis demanding and rigorous.

Player fitness, physical, mental and emotional, is critical to achieve the best performance levels.  At KITA, we understand what it takes to be at the top of your game and we have the coaching talent to take you there.   We can offer our players a variety of training modules, individual development and assessment options, to address gaps in their fitness to ensure they have the best support to meet the high demands of this sport.
